The fly and the flower

No guesses as to what this insect is, but its colours are quite attractive when viewed on the hydrangea.  No so attractive when indoors though.  A last minute blip as I totally forgot about it when half my tooth fell away this afternoon.  Fortunately I have managed to get an appointment at the dentist, better that this happens just before my holiday rather than during the holiday.  I think its going to be expensive though.
