marry-ma-lad...

...in the distant fogs of time I'm sure I read that marmalade was related to Bonnie Prince Charlie and something about a boat trip!
But.
Not so according to 'The Diner's Dictionary' in which marmalade originally signified 'quince jam' and throughout the 16th century the main ingredient was quince.
By the 17th century fruits such as plums and damsons were being used and citrus  fruit preserves were generally called succade.
Marmalades were a sliceable sweetmeat and even veggies were marmalades! and by the 19th century citrus was the go so much so that in 1981 the EC declared that 'marmalade' could only be made from orange, lemons or grapefruit.

SO Robin's delicious lime marmalade is apparently not so!...but regardless it will be on tomorrow's toast.
