Hawnby

We left Edinburgh yesterday after my visit to the Anatomical Museum and drove to Dunbar for a sand dunes orienteering event. Then followed a long drive to Hawnby in the North Yorks National Park. Hawnby is a hamlet with no internet and no mobile phone connection but a very delightful Inn with a splendid restaurant. The access roads with either 1 in 3 or 1 in 4.  I am not sure I have been down a 1 in 3 road before - very steep. I took this photo in this morning before an orienteering event near Helmsley in a typical North Yorks forest- ie knee high bilberry bushes and generally tough underfoot terrain. Still hot and sunny we drove to stay the night with J&V in West Yorks enjoying dinner in the garden. Oh dear the long summer trip  away from home is nearly at an end.
