South Coast Scribblings

Sunshine interval

A constantly changing skyscape today, but I caught this when the sun was out. The family of sparrows which lived in our bottle brush plant (on the left) a few year ago were revisiting and I tried to get a photo of them but couldn't. There is a pigeon in the photo however!

We had wonderful weather over the Bank Holiday weekend and it was lovely to be able to sit out on our new garden seats. We also got the huge magnolia cut back in the front garden and also got some diseased fuchsias out of the garden. The fuschias in our back garden have shaken off the disease, but the ones in the front garden were of the more unusual type and got progressively worse, which was a pity.

I have been watching the news on Hurricane Harvey via Fox News and CNN over the past few days - the strength and resolution of the rescuers has been amazing. How awful and scary to have to leave your home in that situation though. Also the monsoons in India and Bangladesh are particularly bad this year with a huge death toll. The world's weather seems much more extreme these days...
