Pictorial blethers

In a new light ...

This is Loch Striven, looking inland - sort of NW, I suppose. It's a favourite walk along its shore road, and I've taken more photos of it than I can recall. But I think in all the years I've only walked there in the morning twice, until today. We'd been promised rain - nay, thundery showers - that in fact didn't materialise but which were due to happen in the afternoon, so we took our coffee in a flask and headed out in the promising-to-be-a-bit-sunny morning.

So the whole place looked different, with the light still on our side of the loch rather than coming to us from the left of this photo. It even felt different. We drank our coffee sitting on the mossy steps into Inverchaolain churchyard (damp and a bit chilly, but the coffee was good) before walking to the end of the road. We saw countless doomed pheasants running in groups along the road - including in front of our car - and a cat, stalking said pheasants in the long grass beside a field. There were herons standing at the water's edge like dominies contemplating a new class.

And there was that fantastic sky. Good, eh?
