Gloucester Day

There's a lot of history around the 5 September, it is the day that the siege of Gloucester was broken in 1643.

As the 5th sometimes falls during the week Gloucester Day is always held on the Saturday before.
Alan Myatt, the town crier, was asking for volunteers to take part in the Mock Mayor of Bartons parade, history there too all around the siege and the destruction of a the town areas on the outside of the city walls. See the extra of the sedan chair, not much work for the carriers as you can see if you look at the bottom of it.

A bonus today in catching a brief moment with Helen, Blipper Woodpeckers', as she spotted me in the parade.

The whole thing is a celebration of Gloucesters history and is a real fun day with much hilarity courtesy, mainly, of the Town Crier.
He is on the left of the extra, Mark Cummings, who I feature occasionally with my sojourns into radio broadcasting with BBC Radio Gloucestershire, is second from the right.
