In his Happy Place

Our grandson turned 18 years old yesterday; yes, he was almost born on his mom's birthday. I was delighted when he wanted to ride to the beach with me today.
Nick has always loved fishing. He and I used to go fishing on the rivers and streams in the coast range from the time he was about 6 years old .......we have so many great memories of our fishing adventures. We didn't bring a lot of fish home; mostly we would release what we caught unless the trout was really big. .  Nick is a good kid.....very sweet and loving to his Grandma & Grandpa. Anyway, this photo is of him standing in the front of the boat fishing in Tillamook Bay.....He caught a few small fish but nothing to keep......he likes to catch fish but honestly he just loves the experience of fishing and will fish for hours whether he is catching or not. We could see bigger fish on the fish finder so it made it more exciting to know the fish are actually there. (you can see the Screen in the photo). I loved the 2 hours of conversation with Nick on the way to the beach; he shared a lot about his summer.....he said it may have been his best summer ever. He thinks he is really lucky to have really good friends and opportunities for exciting experiences. I agree.

By the way, the contractor at home assures me that he will be back after the three day weekend and he will fix the things that went wrong the last time he was working on the roof of our patio.....I kind of trust him.... .but ..... hmmm.........he did make a mistake.I decided to go to the beach for the long weekend; we will talk it over with him when we get home.
