Sally Mair - Loving life

The original

This is the original bramley apple tree in Southwell. It is over 200 years old and all Bramley trees have come from this original stock - named after a local family. It is in a corner of a pretty dilapidated garden just along the road from where I was staying.
The apples look pretty healthy, but sadly the tree is in bad condition with honey fungus and may not last much longer. There is an extra pic showing the damage and dead branches. Shame, but at least there are plenty of other trees to get our bramleys from.
