Houghton

Our second day here and we are enjoying some down time. We visited the mill, which was in operation today, and we sampled the scones made from the mill's product. Afterwards we strolled around the village taking photographs. There are some beautiful buildings here and several of them are thatched. A feature that I have not seen before are the rooftop birds, made from the thatch. We saw pheasants and ducks and a couple of unidentifiable fledgelings. This row of cottages featured a series of pheasants in differing attitude.

Do you know of elsewhere in the UK where thatched ridges feature bird sculptures?
