Today's the day ......................... to follow the race

It just had to be this picture for today's blip!

My cycling hero, Geraint Thomas, leading Team Sky  up Dingleton Hill on the outskirts of Melrose.  It was the final climb of Stage 1 of the Tour of Britain Cycle Race and came about 20 kms from the finishing line.  It was hard-going too coming at this point in the race and it took its toll on quite a few of the riders. 

We had watched the grand start from the Royal Mile in Edinburgh earlier in the day.  It was a very relaxed affair - good-natured with all the teams putting on a good show.  It must be an organiser's nightmare coping with the logistics of closing off several of the main streets of the City - but it all went without a hitch.

The eventual winner of the sprint finish in Kelso was the young Australian, Caleb Ewan, of Orica-Scott  -  but Sky's Elia Viviani (two behind Geraint) was third .......................
