Blackberries

Our blackberry plants are 2 meters high and covered in berries. There were so many berries, and they were so green, that we worried they were never going to ripen. Sweden has just had its coldest (and one of the driest) summer since records began, and we are pushing our luck planting blackberry so far north, so our worries were not unfounded.
However, suddenly a few berries on the tips ripened, and they were delicious. Now all over the plants the berries are swelling and turning black. Every couple of days we get a  good helping of these fruits to add to our breakfast bowl. I am always thankful for the natural harvest - the uncertainty and the seasonality just add interest!
I'm happy to let a few spiders inhabit the plants, as long as they are happy to let me remove their anchors when they are ripe. So far the spiders haven't complained!
