Such a little cutie!

Sunday 3rd September 2017             (backblip)

We went to Moulton Marsh Nature Reserve this afternoon ..... not been for almost 2 years ...... what a disappointment! Since the last time we were there it has become very desolate & overgrown ....... the only living thing we saw was a little Wren that dived into the undergrowth ...... bummer!

So we then decided to head back to RSPB Frampton Marsh ....... there is usually plenty to see there ...... & there was!

There was a visiting Spoonbill ...... didn't manage a photo as it stubbornly remained at the furthest point from any hide or access! At least we saw it!

There was also a visiting Great White Egret (1st Extra) ...... this one was at least a little closer to the hide! We also saw a juvenile Great Crested Grebe (2nd Extra) ..... it had most of its adult plumage but still a tract of the striped face.

There were plenty of waders & ducks there ........ a Heron & several Little Egrets ...... all in all well worth the visit!

Even more so as we were driving away from there Hubby spotted something tiny moving in the middle of the road ...... stooped the car & we went for a look ....... talk about a surprise! It was this very tiny baby Short-tailed Vole (at least that is what we think it is)!

You can see just how tiny it was ....... that's Hubby hand in the photo!

After getting my blips (apologies for the poor quality the light was dreadful) we put it into the long grass away from the road ..... hopefully it will make it! Quite what it was doing roaming around on its own we don't know ..... but the farmer was cutting the hay/straw so maybe it had lost its nest.

Sorry I won't have time today to catch up with you all ........ don't know where the time is going lately ....... will hopefully have time to catch up Tuesday!
