Great Graz

There are so many beautiful cities in Europe that fly completely under the radar. Austria's second city, Graz, is counted in that number. Its old town is characterful and well preserved, delicious Austrian and European fare abounds and there are gorgeous views onto the city from the Schlossberg on a balmy evening.

We sat in an aspirational way at a cafe on the Schlossberg, sampling the famous Austrian cake Sachertorte. Then for the second night in a row we ate Greek cuisine while Ruby was able to display her grasp of the language and flirt with the waiter (her brother-in-law is Greek Australian).

A friend who I first met in Phnom Penh turned out to be temporarily living in Graz working at the theatre. A joyful reunion and lounging on the grass on a hot day in the Stadtpark.
