Argo

We took a bus to Volos today visiting several interesting places including the Madonna Trypa a delightful church situated inside a cave. Then the archaeological museum before reaching this life size replica of the Argo
15th century b.c. ship constructed by Jason who invited the local men of Iolkos (Volos) to join him and they became known as the Argonauts. They built the ship which was named Argo. According to the legend Jason undertakes the task of returning the Golden Fleece from Colchis.

After this we headed for the old railway station and a museum of a tile works. Strange to see such a clean coal fired factory, interesting though, see extra. Then we spent some time looking around the old industrial buildings behind the bus station before heading back home.

A loud storm is currently taking place with lots of sheet lightning and thunder. Glad we decided to eat in tonight.
