Last Of The Cornflowers

Today I was the World Sneezing Champion. After about an hour of that I was heartily sick of it, alas it has continued for the rest of the day. I've also been unable to get warm at all, and for me, nothing is more miserable than permanently cold feet. I know it's not a cold because I don't have that odd metallic taste in the back of my throat but whatever it is, I wish it would Go Away.

In my on-going learning German Voyage Of Discovery, I think I've discovered the most versatile verb out there. The verb is ausmachen and as far as I can see it has 10 separate meanings.

1. to extinguish, to put out
2. to switch off
3. to bother someone
4. to spot, to determine
5. to make a difference
6. to agree on something
7. to sort something out
8. to be the essence of something
9. to amount to
10. to dig up

And like so much learning, context is everything. I love learning stuff.
