Nomansland

Nomansland Common lies in two parishes: Wheathampstead and Sandridge and many a battle was fought over it until in 1429 a jury agreed the grazing rights should be shared.

It is the link between three old patches of woodland and some huge new areas of planting by the Woodland Trust, that together are called Heartwood Forest.

It made a nice venue for a walk with two members of the Herts Guides Walking Team but in years to come when the new trees are grown it will be magnificent. Already it's a wildlife haven and it's amazing how quickly nature settles in.
