The Beryl Cook Exhibition

We visited the Beryl Cook exhibition today. For those who have not heard of her, she paints the most outrageous pictures of many of the people that she has seen in Plymouth, where she and her husband lived for quite a few years. My Grandchildren sent me this book called 'Mr Granny' - so funny, starring Beryl's pictures, and written by Nanette Newman.
This picture has a caption which reads:-
We said, 'Don't Rush! but she just laughed
And threw away her overdraft.
Her tax demands she threw away,
She never liked them anyway !.
Some people thought that she'd gone mad;
Relations said, "It's very sad,
She used to be so quiet and sane,
Her way of life was very plain;
She cleaned the house and made the tea
And had arthritis in her knee - She was quite usual, you see!
She's not any more, Of that, I'm sure!

Always makes me laugh especially as hubby was a Bank Manager!!!!
