Rainy Day in Land Of Legends

One week ago, Heidi and I had a wonderful Blip-meeting in Land Of Legends. Today I went back there, to meet with Helle and her dogs for a walk.

It was a very very wet day, so we hardly met anyone there. Besides from the staff, we mostly had the huge area to us selves. And the staff was very excited to see us - I guess it is a boring job, when it is so wet - that we almost felt sorry for them, when they realized that we mainly were there to walk dogs - not so much to see the museum.

Once you have paid entrance fee one time in a season, you can return as often as you want FOC and it is such a lovely place to walk, that we go there just for dog walks.

Sagnlandet Lejre or as it is also called Centre for Historical-Archaelogical Research and Communication was etablished in 1964 as an archaeological research station in a unique moraine landscape with woodland, lakes, bogs and fields near Roskilde. It is a center, where professionals from within cultural-historical disciplines can do their research, but it is also an open air museum, where people  can experience our ancestors’ daily life from the ice age and up till the viking age. It is a great place to visit.

So here are the dogs posing in front of the Viking altar with all the food and other valuables that have been sacrificed in order to get Odin, Thor and Freia to bless the village. It was not easy to keep our dogs from eating the eatable gifts to the Gods :-D

The extra pictures are Helle and the dogs in the Iron Age village and our Stone Age picnic.

See you tomorrow
