Santuario Madonna della Corona

At the back of Monte Baldo in Adige valley lies the pilgrimage church of Madonna della Corona. This beautiful old church was founded during the 16th century. She is stuck to the rock wall at 800 meters above the valley.
The church seems to be carved out of the mountain wall and the rocks are also actually used as church walls. The history of the sanctuary dates back to the year 1000, when documents from that time followed climbers in this area. In the past, the monks living at the Zeno Monastery of Verona lived here.
In the past, the church was only accessible on foot via a 2.5 kilometer long pilgrimage route which resulted in 1740 steps.
