clématis

A favorite in my garden for many years now, the clematis plant climbs up and wraps itself around this arbor twisting and bending and anchoring itself as it reaches for the sun and producing beautiful shades of purple and periwinkle blossoms.
This photo is showing what remains after the summer. It has a certain beauty of it's own because you can see the all the hard work it had done during the spring and summer.
Clematis comes from ancient greek and it translates to mean...climbing plant!
