The Great North Run

So proud of #2 daughter who completed her first half marathon and did it in under 2 hours. She was running in memory of her sister for Steve Cram's charity Coco which helps educate children in Africa. Her sister used to run, and liked Cram, so as #2 had spent years in Africa she thought it was a good choice. She's had almost £1000 in sponsors.

We coordinated things with #3 daughter so that we even all got on the packed metro she was already on, at 8.45. We went to drop her bag at one of the buses which took her stuff to the end, then queued for the loo for half an hour. Then she left us to find her starting spot and we walked over the bridge and got a great vantage point just where the motorway, closed for the race, split. The bonus was we were straight across from where Mo Farah, the winner, was doing his warm up. If we'd not managed to spot Fiona, you'd have got a blip of Mo.

We waited to see niece Jennifer go past. They were drinking sweet tea when I spoke to them, and feeling very happy.
