Face to Face , come and have a cuppa.

Mono Monday challenge this September on the theme of favourites is very thought provoking. Today we have been asked to blip a line, or all, of a favourite poem.

My contribution is Face to Face by the 23 year old London spoken word artist Sugar J Poet. The fact that he wrote this for a Nationwide Building Society TV ad does not detract from its powerful message. He wrote the poem after hearing a talk which said that we are the most lonely society in history. How can this be possible when within a matter of seconds you can message a friend and get an instant response?

Here is part of the poem and represented in my blip:

How can you be lonely when everything can be done with a tap or a swipe?
Just because you can, doesn't mean you do.
The more you can, the less you're inclined to do
- it's a funny kind of ruse...
Imagine there were no phones, no Facebook, no online -
You'd probably find the time to meet up for a cuppa or a schmooze.

"Internet connectivity shouldn't block our inter-connectivity"

Powerful words and message from an inspirational young poet.
