Rubaiyat

Dad was an avid reader and a lover of poetry and up until his mid 80's he'd go to the library every week and take out three books.
Sadly, dementia put paid to his love of reading but he still kept his copy of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam on the bedside table.
Dad had strong views, particularly about religion. Happily, he fulfilled his final wish to have a green burial and a humanist ceremony where we read out some of his favourite verses from the Rubaiyat and also Wordsworth's 'I wandered lonely as a Cloud'.
Missing you dad ❤️
Here's a verse for you dad, wherever you may be! :)

Oh, come with old Khayyám, and leave the Wise
To talk; one thing is certain, that Life flies;
One thing is certain, and the Rest is Lies;
The Flower that once has blown for ever dies.
