Lord Hopton's Regiment of Foote...

.... on a courtesy visit to Lady Banks in Corfe Castle

If you would like further information, the Regiment has its own website which explains far more than this blipfoto can convey.

The strength of infantry here barely stretches to that of a platoon, but the enactors are very knowledgeable of their period, namely the English Civil War (1642-1645).

PS  These characters were royalists, i e on the King's side (which lost).

"The English Civil War" is a misnomer, in the sense that there were several internecine wars - very nasty - in England before the 17th century.
