Disney Wonder leaves Vancouver Cruise Terminal

Much to assimilate today as we picked up the RV and drove the short distance to the first site at Burnaby Valley Campground. The vehicle is rather impressive, being new this year but there was a considerable amount of information about the inside, outside and all the systems as well as all the contractual stuff and insurance. Easy enough to drive being an automatic but, of course, wide and long. A spotter is needed when reversing as there are no aids other than the eyes of your spotter.

By the time we'd picked up the vehicle, driven to the site it was well into the afternoon. We had a quick lunch before walking to catch the SkyTrain into Vancouver with the intention of walking around Stanley Park. The SkyTrain is a great system, an elevated railway cutting through the suburbs.

In the event we only made it as far as Coal Harbour such was the interest along the waterfront. North Vancouver and the mountains could be seen across Elliot Inlet and in the cruise terminal the "Disney Wonder" was departing amid the take off and landings of float planes. The marinas here were crammed full of shiny expensive yachts with hardly a soul to be seen.

We had the usual dilemma about finding somewhere to eat, the recommendations in Lonely Planet didn't fit the bill somehow and we ended up in the Elephant and Castle, a British themed bar and restaurant! The weather today was brilliant. Blue skies, warm temperature with a gentle breeze and amazing light conditions.
