Anax Imperator

I finished conducting the water quality survey on one of the five commons this afternoon - all looking good with nitrate and phosphate levels around zero. One quick dip produced a number of damselfly and dragonfly larvae including this Emperor dragonfly nymph with its very large eyes - at the moment this is the only one I can reliably recognise in the field.
