A New Day

Raasay

A much anticipated ferry crossing from Sconser to the island of Raasay today and we were lucky with the weather too.  I've wanted to visit ever since reading the book and seeing the stage play about Calum's Road.

The road did not disappoint, with spectacular views and stomach lurching dips and hills.  We were so pleased that there were few other tourists, as passing places were challenging to say the least:-).

We spotted a sign for flying pigs and laughed about the Scottish sense of humour.  So it was quite a shock when two black pigs came charging through the heather towards the car!  The sign was no joke after all:-)

We followed the road right to its end and were amazed to see several cottages so far out.  A lonely life if they are occupied all year round.

Going out tonight for a farewell meal in a local restaurant which gets very good reviews and is a favourite with locals, so hope it delivers on its promises!

J & M will be leaving very early in the morning to make the long drive home to the south of England and we will follow at a later hour.  We will all be sad to leave this beautiful island of Skye and the delightful cottage that has been our home for the week.

A few extra photos too. Spot the lion of Raasay:-)
