The La's - 1987 - The Florrie

1987 was a pivotal year for The La's being the year the secured a record deal and finally managed to come to the attention of more than the handful of people in Liverpool who already knew of their genius. The first album was still a few years off, but There She Goes did get a release as the band's first single.

30 years on and that time is being celebrated with an exhibition at The Florrie of a series of newly discovered photos of the band and the release of an album of old demo and session tracks. Although not on general release for another week or so, there were copies on sale for a measly £8 last night.

A proper bargain and a great night. But also a reminder that the band could have been even bigger were it not for their volatility.

The exhibition runs to October 7 and is well worth taking a look.
