Life through the lens...

By ValC

My naked ladies.

I found these Autumn crocus hiding among the nasturtiums, and so that definitely had to be my blip for Flower Friday.
They suddenly appear at this time of year.
The flowers emerge before the leaves, hence the name " naked ladies".
The botanical name is " Colchium autumnale".
Not a true crocus but a member of the colchicaceae plant family, and beware, deadly poisonous!
Unfortunately this part of the garden doesn't get a lot of sun at this time of year, and so the flowers don't open out wide.
You may have spotted the snail! They love these flowers, and along with the slugs can make huge holes in the petals.
Saturday again tomorrow, and so I hope you all have a good weekend.
