St James' Staveley

Time for the annual school harvest service. Each class had their turn to take part. My daughter got a great line I'm sweet enough to eat!. Being younger my son was just part of the infants singing a harvest song with actions.

The youngest children did a prayer that spelled out h a r v e s t. The next class had a short reading. Class 3 sang a french song about a miller. My daughter's class compared body parts to foodstuffs. The top class did anagrams of harvest to show that we could let people starve or that we could share.

Great that all got to think about where their food comes from, the need to share our bounty with the less fortunate and to be thankful for what we have.
