Main Road

We went to Kippen today for Doors Open weekend - we had a look in Kippen Boatyard (yes there is such a thing, although they don't make boats there any more), Kippen Parish Church, and also Kippen Smiddy, the old blacksmiths'.  This is taken from the door of the smiddy - the woman showing us round explained that the round thing you can see in the cobbles was what the carpenters and blacksmiths used to make and size cartwheels, and the cobbled road was once the main road from Stirling to Dunfermline (or was it Dumbarton? Sorry, I'm drawing a blank all of a sudden!).  Hard to believe when thinking of today's tarmacked and multi-lane main roads.
