London is Open

I (Annie) spent a fun afternoon volunteering at an Open House London venue in the City. Open House London is a weekend where all manner of buildings open to the public that aren't usually accessible. I was at The Banking Hall in Moorgate - a building recently moved into by the company ING.

The visitors could go up to the 7th floor, with spacious terraces overlooking bits of the city - from an angle you don't normally see, it's always interesting. They were also showing some of the artworks owned by the bank, which include some inherited via their purchase of the famous Barings Bank following its collapse: I was particularly excited to see a Lowry. They also had some of the artefacts from the Barings archive - including some paperwork from the Louisiana purchase. A fascinating read.

The volunteering stint was great - the visitors were friendly, and the organisation of the venue superb. It was the first time ING had participated in the event, so good on them!
