Miss Flum's house is full of surprises.
In a cupboard, hiding underneath a layer of aluminium foil was a spider and this shrivelled object. I'm not sure which caused the greater consternation, the sudden movement of the spider or the appearance of a Dead Thing.
Fortunately, judging by the deposit of soil and onion skins, this cupboard seems to have been used as a vegetable store and the Object merely an escaped carrot.
