Now we have everything

A week 19 hello!

Today we had our '20 week' scan- a week early. A perfect pressie for us on Bump's 19th week gestation day :)

Despite having a little more practice than most he was being stubborn for the sonographer, refusing to move around so she could see whether his skin met at the back 'it's very important I check this as it could indicate Spina Bifida'. Despite asking us (twice) about the amniocentesis and what the results were, it was nice she was being so sensitive to our feelings and not inciting any worry (!).

So we walked the halls of the Whittington hoping to get him to turn, helped along by a yummy hot chocolate from their cafeteria. I still had to do a little belly dance whilst laying on the bed and a few quick rolls to the left and quick rolls to the right. In the end they, the sonographer and her superior (turns out she was newly qualified, explaining the lack of bedside manner 'I don't show the screen to the parents/ or talk to them until I've finished taking all measurements, I'll answer your questions after') got everything she needed.

Apparently Bump measured above average for the length of his legs and the size of his stomach- like father, like son :)

After 19 weeks Bump weighs 10 ounces and has a crown to rump height of around 6.5 inches. They took a little while to confirm the sex due to his strategically placed cord but agreed in the end that he's a boy (2nd confirmation!)
