There and back again

Dartmoor.

If you are not sure where Dartmoor is, it lays about half way between Exeter and Plymouth and the National Park covers an area of 368 square miles with an average height of around 365 meters (1200 ft) so which ever way you approach the moor you will find yourself climbing.
This morning we found a small herd of about 20 ponies and this years offspring up on Hookney Tor which is about 497 meters and is on common land which can be used to graze animals by persons (commoners) who hold the right tp do so.

Very soon the annual "Drift" (round up) will take place and those unmarked ponies will be branded with the mark of its owner and many will be sold off
