My Year

Apples Ripening

We have one apple tree in the garden which always has a good crop and this year is no exception. I think that the damp weather seems to have helped as the area it is in is prone to dry out most summers.

I've no idea what the variety is. That is lost in the mists of time. It is an eater and the fruit are delicious, and I can remember doing a taste test before we bought it.

Apples do best if they are pollinated from a different cultivar. We are helped in this respect by our neighbour having a tree in his garden not too far away so the bees can cross pollinate.
