Trinity Well

I've been meaning to visit this spot for 30 years when, following some correspondence, I first came to hear of the work being done on the site of the House of the Holy Trinity and my imagination has been captivated by it ever since.

The blip is of Soutra Aisle - a family vault that sits on the site of the huge (covering an area of 3/4 mile) Augustinian Hospital and Friary believed to house up to 300 people servicing the needs of travellers, pilgrims, soldiers, and 'reception for the poor and sick' on the Via Regia - the main route north from the Border Abbeys.

Although it seems a high and bleak location, the Hospital was founded by the healing Trinity Well which is no longer visible but I hope freespiral might let it into IHWM17 given its once great significance in medieval Europe.
