Out of the woods

Loch-an-Eilin to Argyll Stone

what a day - bright sunshine, 18 degrees Celsius, and that view!
We decided for a longer hike today, and went straight after breakfast to Loch-an-Eilin.
Along the lake there is a nice broad path that leads you along the shore and you get great views towards the tiny island with the former castle. Further along the path gets more narrow and overgrown but still very pittoresque.
Up towards the Stone, the path become a narrow trail, muddy and more and more steep, crossing small rivers and more overgrown. Crossing the tree limit, the winds were getting real heavy and made for some resistance on our way up. The trail stopped up there, so we just made our way through the knee-high heather. The last steep bit was the worst, but up at the Stone, the view is just fabulous!
The way down though...there was no trail at all and the even steeper heather was a bit of a challenge.
The trip was absolutely worth it and I can really recommend it - not though in bad visibility because you have to see where you´re going.
We felt we deserved a good dinner and a bath afterwards.
I´m still convinced, that Scotland will become our future home-away-from-home. I absolutely love it.
