A gang of turkeys

The bracket fungus Trametes versicolor has a widespread world distribution. We Brits used to call it the many-zoned polypore but these days we tend to use the American name turkeytail fungus, which is much more descriptive. A very variable fungus, the turkeytail grows mainly on dead hardwood, including stumps and standing dead trees as well as fallen branches, and can be found throughout the year.
