Fire in the forest

Today was a big fire drill in the forest of our village.
Many of the voluntary fire brigades of our district participated, even the police was there with a helicopter. (main blip, blipped while they were tanking)
They trained one of the three ways to fight against fire in a forest.
They picked up the water (800 liters) in a reservoir, filled with water out of the river with this orange bag und flew it to the fire.
The second option (first extra) is to transport the water (between 1000 and 5000 liters) with water tenders into the forest and to fill reservoirs. So they fire fighters have some buffer and the water tenders are able to leave earlier to pick up a new portion of water out of a river or a hydrant.
The third option (second extra) is to create a water pipe form a reservoir (pond) into the forest. In this exercise the pipe was almost one kilometer long and had to overbear 50 meters difference in hight. That causes that they loose a lot of pressure. When they want some more water coming out of the pipe than some smal drops, they have to add several extra pumps...
The forest was stricktly prohibited for gazers, but the fire brigades had organized a tour with a huge covered wagon, riding to the main spots.
I was happy to get a place on it with T. and had the opportunity to watch the fire brigade in action and to get some interesting informations.
My son M. was there , too. (1th extra, 3rd from left)
But we were real gazers, the wagon was much to big for the pathes, we had to wait "hours" until nobody would meet halfway and we interrupted the work of the fire workers. Although they have made a great show with smoke producers, (creating the feeling of real fire), an injured fire worker and some chaotic actions :-)
All in all it was an amazing experience :-)
