Street photographers

In the Sanlitun Taikooli shopping area there are always a lot of photographers taking pictures of the people there. Most of the photographers seem at least semi-professional, but I have no idea why they are there and what the photos are used for. 
Some shoppers obviously like the attention and even pose for the photographers, but others seem uneasy about being photographed.
