Austrian Scythes

Spent a couple of hours this morning as part of a group helping the East Lothian Ranger Service cut grass next to Longniddry Bents carpark to encourage wild flowers.  The most environmentally friendly way is to use scythes, so we had a short lesson and then were set to work.  It was hard (& hot) work, but very effective.  But you have to sharpen the blade with a carborundum stone about every 10 minutes, which allows a short rest :)
