A BOBBY'S JOB

Cycled into town today to look at the fantastic annual international food festival here in York, it's amazing, with an array of colour and magnificent smells. I got some lovely shots of the different foods on display, and people filling their faces, and even though I was tempted, I never succumbed to the challenge of taking them all on in an eating contest.

But, it is the National Police Memorial Day today, and it happened to be taking place in the York Minster with a service by The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr. John Tucker Mugabi Sentimu, the Archbishop of York.
So to honour our Men and Ladies in blue, I felt that to blip a shot of food was perhaps for another day.

The service, in their words................. is,
To remember the Police Officers who have been killed or died on duty.
To demonstrate to relatives, family, friends and colleagues of fallen Officers that their service is not forgotten.
And to recognise annually the dedication to duty and courage displayed by Police Officers.

There were hundreds of Police officers milling around the Minster as I passed, from constables to high ranking officers, from motorcycles to those on horse back, and my blip for today shows two local Bobby's from York on foot patrol.
