La vida de Annie

By Annie

Cocodrilos.

Never smile at a crocodile
No, you can't get friendly with a crocodile
Don't be taken in by his welcome grin
He's imagining how well you'd fit within his skin.

Took a trip to the zoo on the way back from some errands in town, remembering that I have a year season ticket which I´ve hardly used. The crocs looked rather sweet, 3 of them all cuddled up and sleeping. The lemur babies are much bigger and more independent now, leaping from tree to tree with great agility. I was interested to see the tortoise enclosure, as back in July they were all busy digging holes to lay eggs; today there were dozens of babies milling around. One of them toppled over onto its back - a common event it seems - and couldn´t right itself. An adult came steaming past, clipping it with his shell, which had the effect of flipping it like a tiddlywink rightside up again. I went to the caff for a coffee - there is a nice terrace covered by vines - but found that all the grapes had gone. I did however find a nice table under a pomegranite tree loaded with fruit.
