saddle

This is Luke on the Saddle between Glen Rosa and Glen Sannox on Arran. We couldn't see the top of any of the hills this morning but set off anyway after a robust breakfast at the guest house.

It was a two mile walk just to get to the beginning of the Goat Fell path up Glen Rosa. We stopped at the Saddle and Sarah had an emotional moment remembering all the wild and windy running trips up here with D in driechy February school holidays. She knows these hills (almost) like the back of her hand and was our guide today, taking us up North Goat Fell, onto Goat Fell and back down to the castle. It was pretty blowy up there!

Halfway down it started raining. I didn't really care, it was a good walk and Sarah said these hills are her favourite place in the whole world, so I'm glad we made the effort.

Another two miles back to Brodick at the end and we are now waiting for the ferry back to Ardrossan, having changed onto dry clothes.

Looking forward to a nice dinner on the ferry before the drive home :-)
