The Canongate Tolbooth

I went through to Edinburgh today as Martin had a meeting at the Scottish Parliament

I used my time to visit the Canongate, which used to be separate from Edinburgh. This is the Tolbooth, built in 1591, which served as court, jail and town council meeting house. My 7 x great grandfather was a Baillie of the Canongate in the late 17th century and was buried in the cemetery of Canongate church which is next to the Tolbooth.
