Hoghton Tower

This is where James the First ate  a piece of loin of beef so fine he knighted it and hence the term Sirloin. Sadly his 3 days stay here bankrupted it's owner who spent 18 months in the Debtors prison in London.

It is a defended Manor House and sits astride a large hill with 360 degree views of this part of Lancashire. The drive is so long I thought it was worth taking again in the opposite direction and as seen in Extra Photos!
