Portree, West Skye and Dunvegan Castle

Portree is almost in the middle of Skye and is the capital of the Island. We enjoyed searching the local shops where we found, amongst other things, Batik clothing and soft furnishings and a little shop making and selling soap.
We thought we'd 'pop over' to Talisker beach for a little stroll, but, after driving down a 4 1/2 mile narrow track with passing places, were told by a polite man in a high viz jacket that he couldn't let us through because they were filming on the beach all day (Rob Roy). Oh well, off to the local distillery instead where Tom treated himself to a bottle of his favourite single malt.
Dunvegan is a little village that we pass on the way back to Glendale, so the Dunvegan Castle and Gardens were an easy choice. Tom thought the Castle looked like a council house castle! 'How rude,' I told him. The gardens were magical and I took many photos
