Exploring

I left the soft South
far behind
and set off
in search of The North.

I mused upon
what I might find.

Perhaps I’d discover
rough-skinned folk
unafraid of any weather.

A hardy race,
granite-faced and gritty.

Long was my journey.
I’d travelled far
and was considering turning back
when,

lo and behold,
I came upon a city
that proudly proclaimed itself
for what it was/is/must be: The North.

I parked and locked my trusty car
and ventured forth.

Here Comes Geordie
