Concrete Avenue

Last year, the bicycle road that I take to work was “upgraded”. It used to be a small track barely wide enough for two bicycles to pass and now it is a nice wide road with lots of space. I was surprised to find that there were people who had objections to the whole plan. They claim the path was characteristic for the landscape in Groningen and should not be touched. This sign, dubbing the new road a concrete avenue, was placed by the side of the road and is “honouring” (former) mayor Van de Nadort of Ten Boer for deciding the road to be widened. I can’t say I agree with the protesters but I can see their point.
